Gynecomastia, commonly called “man-boobs”, is abnormally large breast development in a male due to swelling of the mammary gland. The condition is most commonly due to a hormonal imbalance - usually a testosterone deficiency allowing the “female” hormone estrogen to stimulate breast development.

Gynecomastia is not always directly linked to obesity: however, obesity is associated with lower testosterone levels and fat cells produce estrogens - the combination has a direct action of stimulating growth of the breast tissue.

Gynecomastia is a serious medical condition that in 10% of cases requires surgical correction - the impact on the confidence of pubescent boys and adult males can be severe.

This website explains gynecomastia in clear, concise and plain language including the causes and treatment options available.

Michael Buckley

A Short Story by Michael Buckley the CEO of Lawley Pharmaceuticals

My name is Michael Buckley and I want to tell you a story about myself and the company I built.

Back in 1995 I came to a conclusion that there needed to be someone somewhere who would make bio-identical hormones available to people so that they had a chance to use hormones that matched, exactly, the chemicals that their own bodies manufactured.
